The goal isn't 24/7 service — it's not losing the lead
Most service businesses don't need round-the-clock staff to handle after-hours interest well. What they need is a way to capture the request and set a clear expectation, so the caller doesn't feel ignored until morning.
The three pieces
First, an immediate acknowledgment — a text confirming you got their message and when you'll follow up. Second, a way for them to describe what they need in their own words, by text, so nothing is lost. Third, a clear commitment on timing: "We'll call you first thing tomorrow" beats silence every time.
What breaks this
The most common failure is over-promising: telling someone you'll call back in an hour and then not doing it until the next afternoon. A slightly longer, honest timeline that you actually keep builds more trust than an aggressive one you miss.
